Based on this background, we have tried to package this local content textbook for Language and Literature by referring to the pattern of writing textbooks according to the Independent Curriculum and have gone through a number of stages of writing which we have tried to complete as optimally and as well as possible in the hope that it will be useful for readers who need information and knowledge regarding learning Minangkabau Language and Literature at the Grade 5 Elementary School level. The discussion of the local content textbook material for Minangkabau Language and Literature is the development of competencies that are adapted to the characteristics and potential of the region in accordance with the Minangkabau proverb "Traditional sale of nagari, other lubuak, other ikannyo, other Padang, other balalang". This book, which consists of seven chapters, presents several sections adapted to the material, including; concept map, learning objectives, observe/reflect/get ready to learn (introduction), listen/read material, evaluation, skills, and reflection. The material is described in detail and equipped with illustrations and explanations. Evaluation is presented as a tool for measuring mastery of material and the level of learning achievement or competency of students. At certain levels, if necessary, sections in the form of trigger questions or in the form of barcodes/video/image/text links are also added which are expected to help students to achieve meaningful understanding, so that they will lead students to know and understand the learning objectives of the learning material being discussed.
